Terms of Service

Last updated: February 24, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The Brief ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

The Brief is an AI-powered news briefing platform that aggregates articles from third-party news sources and generates AI-summarized briefings using Google Gemini. The Service is provided "as is" and is intended for informational purposes only.

3. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Briefings are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or misrepresentations of the underlying source material. AI summaries are not editorial content and should not be relied upon as the sole source of information for important decisions. We strongly encourage you to read the original source articles for full context.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any AI-generated content.

4. Third-Party Content

The Brief aggregates and summarizes news articles sourced from third-party providers via NewsAPI. We do not own, control, or endorse the content of these articles. All original article content remains the property of its respective publishers. Links to source articles are provided for reference.

5. User Accounts

You must create an account to use most features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or security measures.
  • Abuse the sharing feature to store or distribute content unrelated to news briefings.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service beyond normal use.
  • Redistribute AI-generated briefings commercially without permission.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service.

7. Rate Limits and Fair Use

The Service enforces rate limits on API usage to ensure fair access for all users. Exceeding these limits may result in temporary throttling. Persistent abuse may result in account suspension.

8. Shared Briefings

When you share a briefing via a share link, the summary content and associated topics are stored and made publicly accessible. Shared briefings may expire or be removed at our discretion. You are responsible for the content you choose to share.

9. Intellectual Property

The Brief's user interface, design, and underlying code are our intellectual property. AI-generated briefings are provided for your personal use. News article content belongs to its original publishers.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings menu, which will remove your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Brief and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us via the in-app bug report form or email us at legal@ai-brief.io.
